Who We Are

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT STUDIES IN PERU – We are an independent non-profit civil organization, created to contribute to sustainable development in rural communities of extreme poverty and at risk, working on research studies for education, health and social development.

The members of SDS in Peru share a common vision and a model of social work based on the principles of Andean culture: solidarity (Ayni); community service (Minka); respect and affection — Munay.

The city of Cusco as the historical capital of Peru maintains Andean ancestral culture as well as teamwork and respect for nature.

What We Do

— Strengthen

Contribute to the promotion of human, social and sustainable development in Peru, promoting the participation of people for the benefit of communities, developing projects and programs of a social, cultural and economic order, in order to reduce poverty, taking as benchmarks the Objectives of Sustainable Development (ODS).

— Build Networks

Involve the active participation of professionals, volunteers, state and private institutions with social responsibility, as support in solution strategies promoting environmental care, social entrepreneurship, improving educational quality, promoting health, values, fair trade, solidarity tourism, human rights and economic sustainability.

— Education

We promote quality, inclusive and bilingual education. Respecting native customs, culture and languages to incorporate them into education with development projects for students and parents.

— Health

We support with different activities to improve the basic health and nutrition conditions of vulnerable people: water supply, health care, as well as with support for infrastructure and equipment.

05.

— Social Development

Support the implementation of economic activities according to the needs and conditions of the community, inclusively and with the responsible use of natural resources, in order to improve family income and reduce poverty.

06.

— Governance

Considering that political responsibility in the fight against poverty is essential to end poverty, we empower community managers and strengthen partnerships between the community and public and private institutions.

Impact Stories

Amalie came for studies and was also a volunteer in our different Service Learning Programs in the communities of Cusco.
